Pre Construction Anti Termite Treatment Process

Pre-Construction, anti-Termite Treatment is done before the completion of the building. The Soil, the building pillars, and other joints are treated with chemicals to stop termites from entering the building—anti-termite treatment.

The most efficient method to protect against termite infestation in homes or buildings is to use anti-termite treatments before construction. Chemicals are employed in treating Soil underneath the foundation. A chemical barrier is constructed between the ground with the building brickwork to keep termites away from your structure.


WHY IS ANTI-TERMITE PERFORMED OR DONE?



The soil treatment before construction must be applied to the plinth of the substructure in construction.

It covers soil treatment using approved chemicals in water emulsions within foundation trenches to treat plinth beams, plinth filling expansion joints for wall-floor joints, and various other steps as described in IS Part-II of 6313 2013.


TIME OF APPLICATION OR WHEN TO APPLY ANTI-TERMITE PROCEDURE ON SOIL:


  • The treatment of Soil to prevent termites is best done when pits and trenches for foundations are in good condition.
  • After the chemical emulsion has been absorbed into the Soil and the surface is dry, the concrete mass should be laid.
  • When it's raining, or the Soil has become saturated by subsoil or rainwater, it is recommended to avoid treatment.
  • These rules also apply to the care of the surface filled with earth in the plinth region prior to the installation of the subgrade for the floor.
  • The soil barriers that have been treated must not be removed once they are in place.
  • When treated barriers to Soil are damaged accidentally, the barrier must be repaired immediately. Taken to ensure the barrier's integrity and continuity.


Procedure For Pre Construction Anti Termite Treatment:


The ground's surface must be clean and dry.

The chemical must be instilled three times in the exact order in the ground.

The earth's surface should be drilled 30mm in diameter and then 150mm beneath the PPC at intervals. The chemical should be applied in a dose of 5 cubic meters per litre.

Second, the substructure of the building, which is enclosed by the earth, has to be treated with the chemical at an amount in the range of 7.5 Liters for each square meter. The chemical is injected into the substructure 450mm deep and 150mm from the substructure.

Finally, before laying the flooring, the interior plinth wall should be backfilled with good-quality Soil and then properly compacted. As mentioned previously, the chemical treatment should be done within 5 litres per square meter.

What is the Soil Treatment the Pre Construction Anti-Termite Treatment?


Soil Treatment is a process that uses anti-termite chemicals applied to Soil after or beneath the structure to create a chemical barrier that can be either repellant or fatal to termites.

This is a process that a building's Soil is treated with chemicals in the initial stages of development.


Treatment of Termites to prevent RCC Foundation:


The treatment for the reinforced cement concrete (RCC) foundations should be at least 500mm below ground level unless the ground level is decreased or raised after the foundations are formed by filling or cutting.

The 500mm depth must be determined using the new soil level created by the filling or cutting process and Soil directly touching the RCC vertical surface. RCC horizontal surface.

The treatment rate on foundations is 7.5 L per square meters.


Anti Termite treatment to treat foundation trenches that are made for basements and Masonry walls:


The chemical needs to apply to the lower of the foundation and on the sides of the foundation up to about 300 millimeters in excavations resulting from masonry foundations and basements, at 5 litres per square meter in the surface.


Anti-Termite Treatment for Vertical Backfilled Soil along the masonry foundation or retaining wall:


The backfill in connection with foundation structures has to be treated in a quantity of 7.5 cubic metres per square metre on the sub-structure's vertical surface on both sides of the foundation once the foundations of masonry and basement walls have been built.

The filling of the Soil is carried out in layers, and the treatment is carried out in steps too. The chemical solution must be spread on the masonry surfaces to ensure that the ground that comes close to them gets effectively treated.


Treatment of the top surface of the Plinth Filling:


Before the bed or subgrade is put in place, the top of the consolidated earth within the plinth walls needs to be treated with a chemical emulsion at a rate of 5 L/m2.

This procedure must be applied on the DPC mounted at the walls' base.

If the Soil has been properly solidified and the emulsion has not leaked in the ground, holes ranging from 50-75 mm deep, and 150 millimeters wide each way can be made on the surface using 12mm diameter mild steel rods to let the chemical emulsion penetrate through the earth.


Treatment for termites that is anti-termite at the Junction of the floor and wall:


A channel of a short length is employed to perform the treatment against termites on the walls' Junction. The rod holes inside the channel are up to 150mm between the ground. The iron rod must be moved back and forwards to make an earth-like hole, and poured chemical emulsion along the wall in a ratio of 7.5 per square meter of the vertical wall or on the column's level so that it can penetrate the Soil down to the lowest point (this is to be done before installing foundations for the subgrade).

When the anti-termite treatment has been done, the Soil must be well compacted.


Anti-Termite treatment of Soil on the Exterior of the Building:


Once the construction has been completed and the earth around the exterior of the building is to be shaped in 150-millimeter intervals up to a depth of 300 millimeters. To create holes in the Soil that compacted, the rods must be moved across the wall within the earth. Chemical emulsions should be poured on the wall in a quantity of 7.5 milliliters per square metre from the horizontal surface. The Soil should be compacted following treatment.


Treatment for Termites in Soil surrounding pipes, wastes, and Conduits


When external work, like pipes, wastes, or conduits, touch the Soil within the foundations, then the ground around each pipe, waste, or conduit needs to be removed for a length of 150 millimeters and 75 millimeters in depth before any treatment can commence. When pipes, wastes, and conduits can penetrate the Soil beyond their foundations, they should be treated the same way at a distance greater than 300 millimeters unless they are 75 mm away from the walls of the building.


Anti-Termite treatment to treat Expansion Joints:


While performing the therapy below, pay particular focus on the Soil that is beneath the joints. Once the subgrade has been installed, the treatment can extend by carrying the expansion joints with a frequency of 2 3 litres per linear metre.
